Tech Startup School 2010

Overview

The Tech Startup School is a structured series of 11 events that will help aspiring and current entrepreneurs start or grow their own businesses. It is also for anyone else who wants to learn more about the business of innovation.

It consists of 6 core events that will help develop a business idea into a viable outline business plan, and 5 skills workshops that will give a range of personal skills that are particularly important for early-stage tech entrepreneurs.

All events are presented/led by entrepreneurs and other experts who will explore the topics, drawing on their own experiences.  They will signpost relevant resources to get further information and help.

This event series is jointly run by BCS (British Computer Society) and BEN (Bath & Bristol Enterprise Network), but is open for anyone to attend - not just members.

You will get the greatest help in developing your business idea into a plan if you attend all, or most, of the 6 core events.  However you are free to choose to come to whichever events you feel will benefit you most.

If you plan to come to 5 or 6 of the core events you will save money if you buy a discounted ticket for the core events (at the top of this page) and then separately buy tickets for the skill workshops you want to come to (on the web pages for workshops listed above).

However if you plan to come to 4 or less core events then you should purchase tickets for the separate events (on the web pages listed above).

All ticket prices include VAT at 17.5% and you will receive an email to act as a  VAT invoice for your records.

[NB Ticket sales payments are being administered by Test and Verification Solutions Ltd via PayPal. TVS is a local company who are underwriting the event. Any surplus from the event will be paid by TVS to BCS and BEN to support their ongoing local activities.]

Entrepreneur or not?

We want to encourage as many entrepreneurs and technical staff as possible to come to these events, so they can buy tickets at reduced prices (just select the 'Entrepreneur' ticket when booking).

You are eligible for an 'Entrepreneur' ticket if you have started, or aspire to start, your own business, or if you work mainly in a technical role.

Tickets are also available at full-price for 'non-entrepreneurs', such as solicitors, accountants, IP and HR professionals, and other service providers.
